Ivory Coast forward Ilya Wahi will miss the World Cup match against Germany after Canada refused to grant him a visa. The Ivorian Football Federation confirmed this on Thursday.

“He has not yet received the necessary documents to enter Canadian territory and will not be part of the visiting team for the match in Toronto on Saturday,” the federation said in a statement. No reason was given for the visa refusal.

Wahi is the second player to be denied entry to Canada to play in the World Cup. Earlier, Ghanaian Thomas Partey was also denied a visa by Canada. Thomas is facing rape charges in Britain. According to various media reports, French police questioned Wahi, who plays for Ligue 1 side Nice, about suspected spot-fixing.

Wahi received a yellow card in a goalless draw with Metz in mid-May. The 23-year-old was booked by officials for an unusually high number of bets placed on the incident. The French-born player decided to play for Ivory Coast in March. Wahi started the Ivory Coast's 1-0 win over Ecuador in their opening match in Philadelphia.
