Kathmandu Gorkhaz were the unluckiest team in the auction last year. The team was unlucky in 12 out of 14 lucky draws. Gorkhaz have made many changes to their team after failing to reach the playoffs in their first season.
The first change was to bring in coach Monty Desai. With the arrival of Monty, who has shown Nepal the dream of the World Cup, Asia Cup and One Day International, Gorkhaz are getting lucky.
The team was able to bring in Adil Alam Ansari, Santosh Yadav and Akash Tripathi from the mini auction. Out of them, Adil and Santosh were bought through the lucky 'draw' after the maximum price. This has made the presence of Nepali players in Gorkhaz thick. Since returning to the field, Adil has also returned to the national team. Santosh had shown impressive performance in the U-19 team.
Gorkhaz, captained by Karan KC, has players including Bhim Sarki, Shahab Alam, Rashid Khan. Prateek Shrestha and Tul Bahadur Thapa can be the foundation of Gorkhaz in the middle-order batting.
Except for Namibian captain Gerhard Erasmus, all others are playing for Gorkhaz for the first time. American batsman Milind Kumar is a batsman with excellent rhythm. He has to take his excellent form in ODIs to T20Is. With Erasmus and Milind, two of the best players in associate cricket, Gorkhaz have set a big goal this time.
John Simpson has already had experience playing in Nepal. He played in the Everest Premier League (EPL) for Chitwan Tigers in 2018. Sunny Patel is one of the familiar faces of Nepali cricket. He has already won the EPL, Pokhara Premier League and Dhangadhi Premier League while playing in various franchise leagues from Nepal. Ben Charlesworth is a player currently playing for the English county.
