Born in the remote village of Jubu in Solukhumbu, Geeta Gurung is the youngest MP to enter the parliament from the Nepali Congress this time. The 30-year-old Gurung, who has been leaning towards the Nepali Congress since school, has been sent to the federal parliament through proportional representation by the Nepali Congress this time.

Geeta, who was good at studies since childhood, passed her SLC with distinction in 2066 BS. After this, she went to Kathmandu for higher education. She graduated with a degree in science from Trichandra College in Kathmandu.

After going to Trichandra, Geeta's political consciousness and aspirations had already taken a rhythm. Geeta, who initially dreamed of making a future through education, was now drawn to politics. It is said that two days are important in a person's life. The first is the day she was born and the second is the day she finds out why she was born. Geeta was now beginning to feel that she was born for politics.

Since she had become the unit president of the Nepali Students' Union during her school life, her aspirations for student politics were growing.

As a Nepali Students' Union worker, her campaigns to raise and solve the problems of students at Trichandra Campus began to grow spontaneously. She gradually built organizations in the districts of the valley and set out to establish an identity and organization in the districts outside the valley and her home district of Solukhumbu.

By the time of the 2079 BS elections, Geeta Gurung was already known as a Congress leader. That identity made her a proportional candidate for the Provincial Assembly member in the 2079 BS elections. But she could not make it to the final closed list. However, as if everything happens for a good reason, today she became a federal MP. That too as the youngest MP of the party.

This time, the Congress suffered defeat across the country, but Solukhumbu became a stronghold of the Congress. Because 3 MPs have gone to the House of Representatives from here directly and proportionally. Out of the 3 MPs, Geeta has become an MP from the tribal cluster. She has the responsibility of protecting and increasing both the votes and reputation of the Congress, which have declined in recent times. More importantly, she is also responsible for making a blueprint for the overall development of the district and making policy arrangements.

Geeta traveled across the country to expand the organization with a rush to become the first woman president of the Nepali Sangh. However, her preparations failed due to the problem of not having a convention on time. On the other hand, she could not get that opportunity due to her age limit. However, she has become an MP through party politics.

Although she did not get the opportunity to lead the Nepali Sangh, a new door of possibility has opened before her. She is a novice in parliamentary politics. However, she seems confident enough to bring the voices of the youth and the Himalayan region to the parliament. As she enters the parliament building, she comes with enthusiasm, not a long list of experiences.

Just as she was in student politics and reached wherever she went from east to west, Geeta said that she will play the role of a strong opposition in the parliament by representing the voices of the citizens, especially young women.
