She became a member of the Nepal Students' Union close to the Congress since her school days. Born in Righa, a rural settlement in Baglung, 38-year-old Renuka Kaucha's political rise began in 2062 BS when she became the treasurer of the Self-Union Student Union at the Saraswati Multiple Campus in Kathmandu.

Since then, she has been continuously active in politics. She was successively elected as a representative in the 12th, 13th and 14th general convention of the Congress. Previously active in the Nepali Students' Union, she became the central president of the Magar Students' Union. During this time, she got the opportunity to reach out to students from the Magar community across the country. During the Constituent Assembly elections, she got the opportunity to participate in many interactions in the field of inclusivity, proportional electoral system and women's rights. She became known among the political leadership through student leadership.

During the preparations for the 2074 BS local elections, there were many aspirants for the positions of mayor and deputy mayor. She got the deputy mayor's ticket the first time. Kaucha's team won Galkot Municipality by defeating the UML and Maoist alliance. Bharat Sharma Gaire became the Mayor and Kaucha Deputy Mayor.

She successfully completed her first term. She was also elected as a delegate to the 14th Congress General Convention from Baglung Constituency No. 2. When she was Deputy Mayor, she brought plans to make women entrepreneurs, improve women's health and empower them. Kaucha took a long time to explain those plans to her own executive and municipal council members. The agendas brought by male members were discussed immediately. The Deputy Mayor's matters were postponed. She has the experience of bringing useful agendas but they were not passed on time because she is a woman.

She succeeded in bringing the 'Deputy Mayor's Responsibility Rural Women's Enterprise Development Program' in Galkot. Kaucha earned praise for creating 100 women entrepreneurs in the aforementioned program. Kaucha, who became deputy mayor at the age of 30, is now 38. She implemented empowerment programs such as single women's allowance, chief development programs for Dalit women, and formed women's networks in all wards. She was a contender for the post of mayor in 2079. During the 5-party coalition, Gaire was re-elected as mayor. Maoist Famlal Niure became deputy mayor.

Kaucha, who holds a master's degree in management and a bachelor's degree in law, says she can play a leading role in lawmaking. She says, "I will take the initiative to make laws according to the people's expectations by reaching parliament." She said that development will gain momentum and obstacles will be removed only if laws are made according to the people's wishes and expectations. "It is our responsibility to institutionalize the changes that the people have sought after the Genji Movement," she said. "We need policies that strengthen the local level." She plans to lead efforts to reform conflicting laws and reduce the burden on local levels in tax collection.
