Rabin Mahato, a candidate of the National Independent Party, has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Sarlahi Constituency No. 2. He defeated old Madhesh leaders Rajendra Mahato and Mahindra Ray Yadav to win the parliamentary election.
Rabin won by securing 42,512 votes. His nearest competitor, Mahindra Ray Yadav of the Nepal Communist Party (NCP), secured 8,523 votes. He won the House of Representatives election by a wide margin of 33,989 votes, according to the Office of the Election Officer of Constituency 2.
Rabin, a resident of Kabilasi Municipality-10, Salempur, has started his parliamentary journey by winning for the first time from Sarlahi-2. The 38-year-old Mahato said that he won by becoming a candidate for change. He expressed his commitment to work on education and health as his first priority.
Mahato, who joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) after the Genji Movement, is a new face in this constituency, but he managed to win by defeating Yadav of the NCP, who is also a former MP and former Minister of Water Supply, and Rajendra Mahato, Chairman of the Rastriya Mukti Party, who is also a former MP and former Minister of Health. The elected Mahato has studied up to 12th standard.
