Rabindra Patel of the National Independent Party has won in Rautahat-3. Patel won by getting 27,318 votes. JSP leader Govinda Chaudhary, who came in second, got 11,954 votes.
Aam Janata Party President Prabhu Sah had to settle for 9,890 votes. Shah had previously won from this constituency four times in a row.
Shah had won in the first Constituent Assembly in 2064 BS, the second Constituent Assembly in 2070 BS, and the House of Representatives elections in 2074 BS and 2079 BS.
Patel, 48, a resident of Sonarnia, Maulapur Municipality-9, had been active in politics for a long time. Patel's political foundation is formed from the CPN (Maoist Center). He was known as a militant young leader within the Maoists.
He played an important role in local politics and organization expansion in Rautahat, especially. He started his political career by becoming a member of Akhil Krantikari, a sister organization of the Maoists in 2051. He became a central member of Krantikari in 2055. In 2074, he ran as an independent candidate for the mayor of Maulapur Municipality after the Maoist party did not give him a ticket. But he was defeated. In the 2079 House of Representatives, he was a candidate from the Maoist Center. However, this time, Prabhu Shah, who ran as an independent candidate, defeated him. He left the central member of the NCP and joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh in 2082. Since the People's War, Patel has been raising his voice for the rights and interests of the oppressed classes and communities. He says that he is looking for alternative politics, feeling that the traditional parties have not fulfilled the people's expectations and that internal democracy in the old parties is weak. ‘I entered the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) party with the slogan of good governance, new thinking and new style,’ he said, ‘There are many complaints of the people in this area.
I will address all of them. I never stay away from the people.’ He passed his SLC from Sonarnia Secondary School in the village. He passed his Plus-Two from Janajyoti High School in Chandranigahapur.
Patel is not limited to politics only, his social image is also considered influential. He is known as a leader who organizes the youth and supports them in their problems.
‘I have made the problems of farmers in Madhesh, unemployment and the state of education the main agenda,’ he said, ‘I work as a charioteer of the current change. I try to stop the unrest. There needs to be a radical change in the education and health sectors.’
Patel’s main election agenda is good governance, corruption control and quality education. Subrata Patel, who studied with Patel at Sonarnia Secondary School, expressed happiness that his colleague has been elected.
‘Patel has come this far after struggling a lot in his political life.’ He had always thought of doing something for the society,’ he said, ‘Now the voice of the society and the younger generation should be raised. We should move forward with the idea of development and prosperity.’
