Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) candidate Rajan Gautam has secured a victory in the constituency number 1 of East Nawalparasi and set his parliamentary journey.

In the 2079 BS election, Gautam, who lost to Congress leader Dr. Shashank Koirala, won by a large margin this time.  

Gautam received 50,945 votes, while his nearest rival Balkrishna Ghimire of the Congress received only 16,293 votes.  Winning by this wide margin of 34,652 votes, Gautam won in a stronghold that is the legacy of the Congress. 

39-year-old Gautam has been active in the politics of the then CPN-Maoist since the establishment of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). He is the Gandaki Province President of the RSSS.  He has completed his studies up to the postgraduate level. He has experience working as the campus head of Devchuli College.

Gautam, who is active in social and youth mobilization, was honored with the 'National Youth Talent Award (2078)' by the Government of Nepal, Ministry of Youth and Sports.
