In Gorkha-2, where the Congress has been in power since 2048 and the Maoists since 2064, Kabindra Burlakoti of the National Independent Party (NISP) won with a landslide victory in this election. Burlakoti entered the parliament on his second attempt.

Burlakoti, who was defeated by the then Maoist chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal by a margin of 13,000 votes in the 2079 election, won by getting more votes than Dahal in Gorkha-2, which is considered a stronghold of the NCP.

In the 2079 election, the then NCP Maoist Center chairman Pushpa Kamal Dahal won by getting 26,103 votes. At that time, Dahal had the support of Dr. Baburam Bhattarai of the NSP and the Congress. But this time, Burlakoti has won by the same margin as he was defeated in the election 3 years ago without an alliance.

Burlakoti won with 26,660 votes. His nearest competitor Prakash Chandra Dawadi of Nepali Congress got 11,700 votes. Burlakoti won with a margin of 14,960 votes. The candidate of the party NCP, which was a competitor in the previous election, could not even be his opponent this time.

Lekhnath Neupane of the Nepali Communist Party (NCP) came third with 11,173 votes. Milan Gurung (Chakre Milan) of the CPN-UML came fourth with 3,087 votes. Gorkha-2 is the constituency where Dahal was elected in the 2079 election, while Baburam Bhattarai of Naya Shakti in alliance with the Congress in 2079, Bhattarai of the then Maoist in 2064, and Hitraj Pandey in 2070 were elected. In a constituency where candidates close to the Maoists and Dr. Baburam Bhattarai have been winning in turn for 18 years, Burlakoti, who entered politics only a few years ago, emerged victorious in this election.

Burlakoti entered politics through the Burlakoti Youth Development Campaign of Palungtar Municipality-9. He is currently the General Secretary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha. In 2057 BS, Burlakoti, who joined the United Youth Organization, became the founding secretary of the Nepal Youth Organization Network and became its second-term president. He also became the founding president of the National Youth Federation. When the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha was formed in 2079 BS, Burlakoti was among the 23 founding central members. Two months after the party was established, he was given the responsibility of Joint General Secretary. He became the acting General Secretary of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangha in 2081 BS and has been in the position of General Secretary since 2082 BS.

Giving a brief response after the victory, Burlakoti said that he would move forward by making good governance and prosperity a national issue. "Politically, we will move forward in a way that is beneficial to the nation. It is natural to look at Gorkha in the context of development," he said. "Our party, the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), will now also play a parental role. We will move forward by coordinating with everyone. We will move forward with a sense of responsibility to take care of the country and make it a well-governed country."
