Chitwan NCP candidate Renu Dahal has said that despite winning the hearts of the people through her work, she could not win the votes after her election defeat. Renu, who is also the former mayor of Bharatpur Metropolitan City, wrote a status on Facebook saying that she dedicated 9 energetic years of her life in Bharatpur for development, prosperity and good governance but could not win the votes.

She has also said that she will accept and respect the people's vote. Stating that she has entered the election fray with 15 months left in her mayoral term in Bharatpur Metropolitan City, she wrote,  'I feel that the work is becoming difficult due to the lack of good policies and regulations in favor of the people for development,  Although the results have come, I respect the people's precious votes.' 

She further wrote, 'I won your hearts through my work, but I could not win your votes. I would like to congratulate Ms. Sovita Gautam, who won the votes.' 

She was defeated by the National Independent Party candidate Sovita Gautam by a margin of 38,662 votes.
