Sitaram Sah of the Rastriya Swatantra Party (RSWP) was elected as a member of the House of Representatives in Saptari-4 on Saturday. He got 36,412 votes.
Sah's rival Tejulal Chaudhary of the Nepali Congress, who has won three consecutive terms since 2070, could only get 13,103 votes.
Wabi Singh of the Janata Samajwadi Party (JSP) Nepal got 10,792 votes. Ruby Kumari Karna of the Nepali Communist Party got 1,709 votes, Ganga Prasad Chaudhary of the CPN-UML got 1,177 votes, and Jitendra Kumar Sah of the Janmat Party got 995 votes.
Sah, who entered government service in 2041, resigned as a land conservation officer and contested as a provincial assembly member from the Nepali Congress in Saptari-4(1) in 2074. He entered student politics from the Nepali Sangh and served as the senior advisor of the Civil Servants Union and also served as the regional president of the Nepali Congress. He got 11,395 votes as a provincial assembly member.
He contested the election for the mayor of Khadak Municipality again from the Congress in 2079. When he contested for the mayor, Sah came in third place with 3,436 votes. He had last left the Congress and joined the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS). Sah of Khadak Municipality-7 has two sons and a wife.
Out of a total of 1 lakh 9 thousand 5 hundred 66 voters, 71 thousand 9 hundred 86 people, including 39 thousand 74 women and 32 thousand 9 hundred 12 men, cast their votes.
