Among the candidates directly fielded by the CPN-UML for the House of Representatives elections, the number of female candidates in Karnali, Sudurpaschim, and Bagmati provinces has been zero.

After Kamala Bohora, who was directly given the ticket from Kanchanpur-1 in Sudurpaschim Province, was withdrawn and Tara Lama Tamang was given the ticket, there are now zero female candidates in both provinces.

While fielding 33 candidates in Bagmati Province, 12 in Karnali, and 16 in Sudurpaschim Province, it seems that UML has not fielded any female candidates.

After withdrawing the ticket, Kamala Bohora has mentioned on social media Facebook that she is proud that the party has fielded her as the only female candidate and that she is unaware of the reason or compulsion for not being able to uphold the decision. She wrote, 'I do not believe that I should get opportunities just because I am a woman, I always believe in my ability and activity. This situation is not one of division and hostility, but of unity and harmony.' She has also urged the UML candidate Tamang to join the campaign to make all candidates, including her, victorious across the country.

There are only 9 women in the list of candidates for 163 seats made public by UML. It seems that a total of 5.5 percent women are represented in this public list.

Talking to Kantipur, UML Publicity Department Chief Min Bahadur Shahi claimed that the ticket was returned as per Bohora's wishes. He said, 'I have heard from friends that he has expressed his desire to take on responsibility at the provincial level, so another candidate has been put forward in his place.'

Rejecting the accusation that women were not given priority in direct representation, Shahi said that in the first election, UML had 37 percent female representation in parliament through direct and proportional representation and the party's commitment to increase women's representation to 40 percent this time remains intact.

Among the female candidates decided in the direct representation, there are three female candidates from Koshi Province—Bhagwati Chaudhary (Sunsari-4), Kalpana Rai (Solukhumbu) and Asmita Thapa (Okhaldhunga). Julie Mahato (Dhanusha-3), Jwala Shah (Bara-3) and Rima Yadav (Parsa-2) have become candidates from Madhesh Province.

There are two female candidates from Gandaki Province, Bhagwati Neupane (Tanahun-1) and Manju Sharma Chalise (Baglung-2), while Bimala Bik (Bardiya-2) is the only female candidate from Lumbini Province.
