Dhakal, who gained popularity in the last election by running as an independent candidate against then Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba in Dadeldhura, is set to contest the election from Gulmi-1 this time.
The National Independent Party (NIP) has finalized its candidates for the House of Representatives in Gulmi-1 and 2.
The candidates for both constituencies have been finalized and the party is moving towards Gulmi for nomination, said Devraj Pandey, joint secretary and spokesperson of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Gulmi.
According to him, Sagar Dhakal will be contesting from the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) in Gulmi-1. Dhakal, who gained popularity in Dadeldhura as an independent candidate against then Nepali Congress president Sher Bahadur Deubasit, is contesting from Gulmi-1 this time.
Govinda Panthi is contesting from Gulmi-2. Panthi is a new face. He is a retired DSP of Nepal Police and is also an advocate.
Pradeep Gyawali is contesting from the UML in Gulmi-1. This is also the constituency of Nepali Congress leader Dr. Chandra Bhandari. The Congress candidate is yet to be finalized.
Gokarna Bista is contesting from UML in Gulmi-2. The Congress has not yet decided. Shriram Mahat is going to contest from the Nepali Communist Party in this area. Leaders including Lumbini Province Deputy President Bhuwan Prasad Shrestha have been recommended by the Congress, but it has not been decided.
There are 122,186 voters in Gulmi-1. There are 177,363 voters in Gulmi-2. Earlier, Bhandari of Congress and Bista of UML had won from Gulmi-1 and 2, respectively.
