A writ petition filed by the faction of outgoing President Sher Bahadur Deuba against the Election Commission's decision to grant legitimacy to the Gagan Thapa faction of the Nepali Congress has been registered in the Supreme Court.

In the writ petition, the Deuba faction has also sought an interim order to postpone the direct nomination for the House of Representatives.

The writ petition has been filed on behalf of Sher Bahadur Deuba and Purna Bahadur Khadka. The Supreme Court has set the first hearing for Tuesday. The Deuba faction has demanded that the nomination be postponed, saying that they should be deprived of participating in the election if an interim order is not issued.

They had demanded a hearing today, but the Supreme Court said that it would not be possible due to the regulations, so it set Tuesday for the presentation.

The Election Commission has already set Tuesday as the date for the nomination registration for the House of Representatives election. The Deuba faction has demanded that an order be issued in the name of the Election Commission to announce another date for the nomination.

In addition, the writ petition also demands that the Election Commission's decision to recognize the office bearers elected by the special general convention, including President Gagan Thapa.

They have made the Election Commission, the new working committee elected from the special general convention, and President Gagan Kumar Thapa and Vice President Bishwaprakash Sharma the opposition.
