The second special general convention of the Nepali Congress is starting today. The names of the general convention delegates have been registered for some time now, and rallies are being held at six different locations in Kathmandu before the inaugural session of the special general convention.
The inaugural session will be held at Bhrikutimandap at 1 pm. According to the general convention organizing committee, a procession is being organized as a show of strength before the inauguration ceremony. The secretariat has stated that the procession will start from all routes at 11 am. The formal inauguration program will begin after the procession enters Bhrikutimandap.
The closed session will also begin today after the inauguration ceremony. According to the Second Special General Convention Management Secretariat, the procession will depart from Kupandol in Lalitpur and Sundhara, Ratnapark, Padmakanya Campus Chowk, Shankardev Campus and Kamalpokhari in Kathmandu towards Bhrikutimandap.
The route of the procession is as follows:
Route No. 1
Gathering place: Sundhara
Congress leaders and workers from Chitwan, Arghakhanchi, Nawalpur and the far west districts will gather at Sundhara. Leaders and activists from Kathmandu constituencies 8, 9 and 10 will also participate in this procession. The procession will enter Bhrikutimandap from Sundhara via Bir Hospital, Ratnapark and Old Bus Park.
Route number 2
Gathering place: Ratnapark
Leaders and activists from Nuwakot, Rasuwa, Dhading and the northern areas of Kathmandu as well as constituencies 5, 6 and 7 will participate in the Ratnapark procession. This procession will reach the special general convention venue from Ratnapark via Old Bus Park.
Route number 3
Gathering place: Padmakanya Campus
Leaders and activists from Banke, Bardiya, Dhanusha, Saptari, Siraha, Mahottari, Sarlahi, Rautahat, Bara and Parsa will participate in this route. Leaders and activists from Kathmandu constituencies 5, 6 and 7 will also be in this procession. The procession will enter Bhrikutimandap from Padmakanya Campus via Putalisadak, Shankardev Campus, Padmodaya Mod.
Route number 4
Gathering place: Shankardev Campus
Leaders and activists from Bhaktapur, Kavre, Dolakha, Ramechhap, Sindhupalchowk, Sindhuli and Kathmandu constituencies 2 and 3 will participate in this procession.
This procession will reach Bhrikutimandap from Shankardev Campus via Putalisadak, Padmodaya Mod.
Route number 5
Gathering place: Kamalpokhari
Leaders and activists from Kathmandu constituencies 1 and 4 will gather at Kamalpokhari and enter Bhrikutimandap via Charkhal Adda, Dillibazaar, Putalisadak, Shankardev Campus.
Route No. 6
Gathering place: Kupandol
Leaders and activists from Lalitpur and Makawanpur will participate in the procession starting from Kupandol in Lalitpur. This procession will reach Bhrikutimandap via Kupandol, Thapathali, Tripureshwor, Sundhara, Bir Hospital, Ratnapark, Old Bus Park.
