25 central members of the Congress establishment faction have appealed to the leadership to hold talks with the special general convention faction. They have appealed to President Sher Bahadur Deuba to create a result-oriented environment through dialogue and consensus, respecting the votes of the representatives who demanded a special general convention.
Issuing a statement after the discussion held in Kupandol, Lalitpur on Friday morning, the group appealed to the leadership to respect the demand for a special general convention and create a result-oriented environment through dialogue and consensus.
‘The Congress general convention representatives have already registered a written petition demanding a special general convention. Therefore, respecting the votes of the representatives who are making the request, we sincerely appeal to the leadership level to create a result-oriented environment in favor of the Congress by holding a dialogue and consensus in the upcoming elections with new energy and thinking,’ the statement said.
Stressing that it is necessary to make the Congress a credible and more trustworthy party of the people in view of the House of Representatives elections, they reminded that they need to go to the elections with a new thinking and perspective by embracing the issue of change and transformation.
The group had earlier met President Sher Bahadur Deuba on 18th December. The group had held discussions with leader Dr. Shekhar Koirala on 22nd December. On the same day, discussions were also held with General Secretaries Gagan Thapa and Bishwaprakash Sharma.
