UML presidential contenders KP Sharma Oli and Ishwor Pokharel were seen together at Bhrikutimandap to vote. After chatting for some time, they started voting through electronic voting machines. Oli voted at booth number 77 and Pokharel at 76. Despite all preparations, voting began after waiting for half an hour for the two presidential contenders.

Both Oli and Pokharel took a long time to vote. After voting, Oli left the Bhrikutimandap in a daze. Outside the Bhrikutimandap hall, Oli also sat in the square with other candidates and representatives and had a photo session. Pokharel, on the other hand, was sitting there and asking for votes from the voters. The candidates for vice-president and general secretary, secretary and central member were busy asking for votes all day on Wednesday. At night, Oli, Pokharel and other leaders stayed at the polling station until late.

On the road on the exhibition road, supporters of secretary candidates Mahesh Basnet and Karna Thapa were asking for 'cutout' votes. As the voting was slow, the candidates had a chance to ask for votes for a long time. Voting, which began at 9:12 am on Wednesday, continued throughout the night. Despite the use of electronic voting machines that produce quick results, it did not go as expected.

Due to this, the general convention, which was supposed to end in three days, has been extended by two more days. 11 out of 301 central committee members and 19 office bearers have been elected unopposed. The representative will have to choose 290. This time, since the machine is in the setting that no candidate can move forward without voting, no candidate can move forward without voting.

Voters were complaining that they were not able to vote even after standing in line for 2 hours. At the same time, candidates were asking for votes from the representatives standing in line. The results can be announced in about three hours after the voting ends, informed Sanuraj Pokharel, Vice President of the General Convention Election Commission. ‘Even though it takes time to vote, the results can be announced within three hours of the end of that,’ he said.

According to Pokharel, some top leaders (candidates for office bearers) also took more than an hour to vote. ‘Some have taken up to 1 hour and 4 minutes. The fastest took 9 minutes, the slowest took 2 hours and 4 minutes, and the average time was 30 to 35 minutes,’ he said. Arrangements have been made to allow 80 people to vote at a time. There are 2,262 voters. On average, 100 people have voted in an hour.

The establishment has campaigned for Oli to win the panel by 'branding' him, while the Ishwor Pokharel faction has emphasized the people's multi-party democracy (Jabaj) propounded by Madan Bhandari. Why Oli's leadership for a third term? The Oli faction argues that it is to save the party and give the right direction to politics. The Pokharel faction has emphasized the transfer of leadership as serious questions have arisen regarding the party and leadership.

Oli and Pokharel have formed a panel to compete for the leadership, giving a glimpse of the ninth general convention. In the 2071 Ninth General Convention of the UML, KP Oli and Madhav Nepal formed a panel and competed at the same place in Bhrikutimandap. Since then, Oli has been in the party leadership. The results were mixed at that time. Candidates from both parties were victorious. In this general convention, Surendra Pandey, the general secretary's competitor, lost the general secretary post and Shankar Pokharel lost the deputy secretary post. Ishwor Pokharel won the general secretary post from the Oli faction.

The leaders are also expressing the psychology that the party should have mixed results in order to unite in this 11th general convention. They say that it is appropriate to have mixed results since the possibility of different views being respected when one panel wins is low.

In the 10th general convention held in Chitwan in 2078, although there was a competition between Bhim Rawal and other leaders against Oli, it could not be 'healthy'. Rawal, the candidate for the chairman, has left the UML. Ghanashyam Bhusal, who had nominated for the post of vice-chairman, has also dropped out. Those who went to vote had taken the list of candidates from the chairman's candidates, Oli and Pokharel groups. The election code of conduct itself has made provision for taking the list of candidates from both groups to the polling station. 603 candidates, including the central committee and office-bearers, had filed their candidacies. Out of these, 11 were unopposed and 13 withdrew their candidacies, leaving 579 in the fray.

Commission Vice-Chairman Pokharel said that voting could not be postponed after it started, so it continued throughout the night. He also informed that all 80 machines were working continuously. "Voters faint and sweat profusely while casting their votes," he said.

After it took a long time to vote, arrangements were made to sit with coupons. Initially, it was said that voters should enter the polling station by 5 pm on Wednesday, but later that time was extended by five hours. After that, those who enter the polling station by 10 pm will be able to exercise their franchise, informed Rajendra Gautam, who is in charge of the campaign.

Folk singer and artist Jyoti Magar also reached the spot to seek votes for her candidate. She also met and took pictures with the presidential candidate Oli. She was seeking votes in favor of Purna Gurung, the candidate for the central member from the tribal quota. She said that she had no plans to enter politics. "I have no plans to enter politics, but if we want development, we should work in the same field," she said.

Kathmandu Metropolitan City Deputy Mayor Sunita Dangol was also seeking votes. How long have you been in line with the representatives waiting to vote? She was asking questions like, "How is the situation?" and urging people to vote for her.
