The counting of votes for the election of the new leadership of the UML has begun. The counting of votes began after chips were removed from the 80 electronic machines used in the election.
The 11th General Convention Central Election Commission Chairman Vijay Subba has informed that the counting of votes has begun in the presence of representatives of candidates from both parties and members of the Central Election Commission. He said, 'The results will be ready in the next two and a half hours. After verifying everything and all parties say OK, the results will be made public. The 11th Central Committee of UML will be announced today.' Today, Election Commission Chairman Subba will administer the oath to the newly elected party chairman, the chairman of the Accounts Commission and the Disciplinary Commission. After that, the newly elected party chairman will also administer the oath to the members of the Central Committee today. The voting was completed with 2,227 general convention delegates voting for the leadership. During the voting, 36 general convention delegates were absent.
There is a competition between KP Sharma Oli and Ishwor Pokharel for the post of President, while Shankar Pokharel and Surendra Pandey are competing for the post of General Secretary. The panel from both sides is also participating in the other office bearers.
Will KP be the one to stay or will Ishwor come? 
KP Sharma Oli is trying to become the UML President for the third time, while Ishwor Pokharel, who is also the former General Secretary, is competing for the post of President for the first time. Earlier, Oli was elected as the President for the first time in the Ninth General Convention held in Kathmandu in 2071.
Then, in 2078, he was elected as the President for the second time from the Sauraha General Convention. In the Eighth General Convention held in Butwal in 2065, Oli was defeated by Jhalanath Khanal.
