If the people themselves are corrupt and dishonest, it is futile for us to expect good governance.

It is not surprising that the government changes and a new power equation is formed in Nepali politics. However, it is human nature to have hope with every new beginning. First of all, I would like to wish this new government a successful tenure, but with this wish, I would also like to add a serious warning from an aware citizen. We have been seeing the same cycle for decades, where as soon as the government is formed, the culture of burning tires and throwing stones begins on the streets. When we look at the current movements from a deeper perspective, a question arises – are the movements really focused on the common issues of the citizens?
Unless the movements address basic problems like high cost of food, unemployment and corruption, then those movements are only a means to hide the selfishness of gaining power and the pain of being deprived of power. We are not in favor of such movements and demonstrations that do not have the agenda of the common people at their center. We cannot stand in favor of movements that hide the political future of any particular person or group. Therefore, we do not consider meaningless demonstrations and street noise to be justified. We do not support or cooperate in this.
The kind of low-level behavior that is currently being seen on social media in the name of protest is even more worrying. Commenting on videos or photos of protests using extremely abusive, bad and trivial words cannot be the hallmark of a good and civilized person. Scolding someone for making a mistake or using obscene words does not solve the problem, but rather it reveals the culture and level of the person commenting. If we want to see others improve, then first we should be decency in our own speech and behavior.
We must understand that if any movement is just a bundle of frenzy and selfishness of power-lovers, then nothing will get damaged if we do not support it. The state and law will do the rest at their own pace. It is not appropriate to take to the streets and damage national wealth or damage someone's private property. Rather, it is cowardice. Before following someone or standing in support of someone, let us ask ourselves, am I standing as a good citizen or have I become a puppet dancing at someone's behest?
It is not only the leaders who are to blame for the deterioration of our country. We the people are equally responsible. If we ourselves become corrupt and dishonest, it is futile to expect good governance. Until the people stop being blind devotees or lazy workers of someone, it is not possible to bring about real change in this country. We have made the leaders rulers, while they are our servants. This slave mentality is the main obstacle to today's prosperity. If we do not improve ourselves, the system will change, but the condition of the citizens will remain the same.
My clear suggestion to the new government is that it is no longer enough to just distribute assurance packages. The government should first create an environment for investment in the productive sector in the country to stop youth migration. The policy of modernizing agriculture and providing hassle-free support to small entrepreneurs should be the priority now. Laziness and corruption in government offices should be ended through the use of technology. The main responsibility of the government is to ensure quality services by freeing basic needs like education and health from commercialization. If this government also tries to spend its time in gossip and power frenzy like the previous governments, we will not remain silent. With the same hand with which we voted you to power, we will also have the courage to take you to the streets.
Finally, I would like to make a heartfelt appeal to the general public. If we do not stop being loyal to a particular person or organization, the future of our children will also be spent looking for jobs abroad. Should we keep our children by our side as a support in old age or send them to find forced employment abroad? The choice is ours. Let us stop carrying the leader's bag and think about the future of the country. As long as we are not afraid to ask questions and speak based on facts, no one can deceive us. This country is ours and it is our responsibility to build or destroy it. The next government has to do a good job, and it is our job to evaluate it properly.
