The Election Commission has decided that the ‘Election Code of Conduct, 2082’, which was implemented for the National Assembly member election and the House of Representatives member election from 12 midnight on Magh 4, will not be applicable from tonight.
The Commission’s spokesperson Narayan Prasad Bhattarai informed that the decision was taken today. In order to maintain a clean, impartial, transparent and fear-free environment in the National Assembly member election held on Magh 11 and the House of Representatives member election held on Falgun 21, the provisions of the code of conduct were implemented from the night of Magh 4 until further notice as per Section 22 of the Election Commission Act, 2073 and Sub-section (2) of Section 1 of the Election Code of Conduct, 2082.
As per the decision of the Commission on Magh 4, the code of conduct was implemented from 12 midnight on the same day. The statement issued by the Commission today stated that the code of conduct will be inoperative from tonight.
