As of 6 pm, 2,925 candidates have registered their candidacies in all 165 constituencies across the country for the upcoming direct election to the House of Representatives on Falgun 21.

After the registration of candidacies, Secretary Krishna Bahadur Raut informed the press conference organized by the Election Commission on Tuesday evening that 336 women and 2,589 men had registered their candidacies in the commission's system. He said that this number could increase as verification work is still underway in some constituencies. 

Only four candidacies have been registered in Mustang, which has the lowest registration. Similarly, Secretary Raut also informed that five candidates have registered in Manang. It is reported that the candidacies of both these districts have been verified. 35/35 candidacies have been registered in Rupandehi constituency no. 2 and 3, where the highest number of candidacies have been registered. Rupandehi constituency no. 2 has been verified, while constituency no. 3 is pending.

It is reported that the offices of the election officers have informed that the candidacies registration process has been carried out in a generally peaceful manner. 

Candidates were scheduled to register their nomination papers from 10 am to 5 pm today. The commission had called for candidates to bring 13 types of documents, including citizenship or voter ID cards, for the registration of candidacies. The list of candidates will be published from 5 to 7 pm, said Narayan Prasad Bhattarai, spokesperson of the commission. 

The period for filing complaints against candidates whose nomination papers have been registered has been fixed from 10 am to 3 pm on Magh 7. The nomination papers and complaints will be examined and decided on from 3 pm on Magh 7 to 5 pm on Magh 8, and the list of candidates will be published from 5 pm to 7 pm on the same day. The time for candidates to withdraw their names has been fixed from 10 am to 1 pm on Magh 9. 

It was informed at a press conference that the final list of candidates will be published from 1 pm to 3 pm on Magh 9 and the election symbols will be given to the candidates from 4 pm to 7 pm on the same day.
