On Saturday evening, the flood had started to enter the settlements on the banks of the Bagmati river in Balkhu. Taking into consideration the possible risk, people were transferred from there to a safe place, the goods of the shops around were moved.

Similarly, the vehicles parked on the road along the river were also taken to a safe place from there. With the sight of the motorcycle that was about to get stuck being quickly pulled out of the flooded area, it is already felt that the flood has started to affect Kathmandu. Some journalists and passers-by were capturing the scene of the drowning.

As it is raining and there may be more risk inside the settlement that is being flooded  No one entered. At that time, a team including Energy, Water Resources and Irrigation, Physical Infrastructure and Transport and Urban Development Minister Kulman Ghising, Green Development Secretary Gopal Prasad Sigdel was seen arriving there. They directed the relevant agencies and local administration to be vigilant to prevent human and material damage.

Last year, in the second week of October, the rains that fell continuously for two days caused huge human and physical damage. This year, the Department of Water and Meteorology announced a weather forecast system every three days and requested people to be alert. It has made it easier for the state agencies and the public to get ready. According to the forecast of the department, it is raining in different areas of Bagmati, Gandaki, Madhes and Lumbini from this morning and this sequence will continue for the next three days . Vehicular movement has been stopped on the long and dangerous route due to speculation. All domestic flights within the country have been suspended.

As more rain falls during the night, all three levels of government and security agencies are mobilized to relocate human settlements to safer places and adopt other security measures.

Education, Science and Technology Minister Mahavir Pun through social media has called on schools and colleges around Bagmati River to provide temporary accommodation until the flood recedes as there is a high possibility of displacing the residents of the Bagmati River. At the request of Home Minister Omprakash Aryal, he has informed that he has instructed the schools and colleges there through the relevant branch of the Ministry of Education.

Likewise, the disaster management department of Kathmandu Metropolitan Municipality has started transferring the residents of the riverside who are at risk to nearby safe schools.

From Kosi to Lumbini province till October 20th, medium to very heavy rains are forecast in Kavre, Sindhupalchok, Rasuwa Makwanpur, Bara Parsa, Sarlahi, Rautahat and other districts. Government mechanisms are seen to be prepared to deal with the disaster that may arise from it .
