The National Human Rights Commission has said that it is sad that the security agencies used excessive force against the protesters.

The commission issued a statement saying that it is tragic that this kind of demonstration turned into vandalism and arson and that the security agencies used excessive force.  ''The democratic government should identify the proper voices of the citizens and deal with such voices of dissent in a timely manner,'' the commission's statement said, 'The police lathi-charged and watered the protesters who started from Maitighar in Kathmandu and reached Baneshwar through Babarmahal. During the monitoring, it was found that water cannons, tear gas and bullets were fired.' 

The commission has informed that more than a dozen people have died and dozens of people have been injured due to police firing. The Commission expressed its condolences to the deceased and requested for free treatment of the injured.

"According to Nepal's constitution and international human rights law, any person or group has the right to express their opinions in moderation," the commission said, "therefore, the commission directs the government of Nepal to prepare high security arrangements before this kind of demonstration to prevent further damage, not to use excessive force in the demonstration, to address the voices raised by the last generation in a reasonable time, to provide immediate relief and compensation to the families of the deceased, to provide free treatment to the injured, to conduct a fair, credible and thorough investigation of the incident and to take strict action against the culprits of the incident."

In addition, the Commission has also requested the protesting parties to remember that the responsibility of making their demonstrations peaceful, dignified and restrained is also the responsibility of the protesting party. The

commission has requested the government to stop using excessive force on the protestors and to be serious about the voices of the latest generation.

The ban imposed by the Nepalese government on social networks such as Facebook, Twitter, YouTube and the call of a group called Zenji against corruption, the statement of the commission states that there were violent attacks on vehicles and monitoring teams of the commission in various cities of the country including Kathmandu.

The commission came to the knowledge of demonstrations in various cities of the country including Kathmandu, Pokhara, Butwal, Chitwan, Biratnagar, Rautahat, Sunsari, Jhapa, Dang and others. The commission said. Commission spokesperson  Tikaram Pokharel has issued a statement and requested to arrange free treatment in all hospitals.
