President Ramchandra Paudel has said that the increase in government business every year is a challenge for good governance.
Accepting the Auditor General's annual report for the financial year 2080/081 on Wednesday, he said that the increase in government expenditure has become a matter of serious interest and concern for a long time. He mentioned that in the current situation, there is a need to pay more attention to the operationalization of existing laws and financial discipline while government spending.
In order to maintain financial discipline and increase financial responsibility, it is necessary for the officials of public bodies to become more responsible. He said that the Auditor General's role is important in making all officials involved in managing government funds more responsible and accountable to maintain good governance.
President Paudel said, 'Beruju, which has been increasing at government expense for a long time, has become a matter of serious interest and concern. In the current situation, I see the need to pay more attention to the operationalization of existing laws and financial discipline while spending government money. There is a need to make the officers of public bodies more accountable to maintain financial discipline and enhance fiscal responsibility. Every year the increase in government business is a challenging situation for good governance.'
President Paudel expressed his belief that the Auditor General will play a more powerful role in the future to maintain financial discipline and financial responsibility.
