The government is going to integrate the social health security program run by various agencies under the government and operate it through the health insurance board.
In the policy and program of the fiscal year 2082/83, it has been announced that the Social Security Fund under the Ministry of Labour, Employment and Social Security, the Social Security Fund under the Ministry of Finance and the Social Health Security Program will be integrated and operated through the Insurance Board. According to the insurance board, 21 billion rupees of the state is double spent every year on the social health security program alone.
According to insurance expert Dr. Suresh Tiwari, although the insurance program included in the policy and program is not new, he said that the plan to integrate the scattered social health security program is ambitious.
'Basic and essential medicines are not distributed through the insurance system. Since the constitution provides for free basic health services, arrangements should be made for free distribution of these medicines through basic hospitals at the local level, he said.
Similarly, the government has introduced programs such as the 'Healthy Nepal Campaign', the month of February every year will be declared as the month of non-communicable disease screening. There is a plan to establish a state-of-the-art National Neuroscience Center in Kathmandu for treatment of acute burns and heart disease, expansion of cancer and kidney transplant treatment in all seven provinces, free cancer treatment for children under 14 years of age, treatment of brain, spinal cord, mental and neurological diseases.
Prof. Dr. Dhundiraj Paudel said that it is not a new program but the old one. "Cancer treatment is not possible without a combination of chemotherapy, surgery and radiotherapy depending on the nature of the disease," he said. It will be the turn of Veer Hospital only after one year,' he said, 'could not come up with a solid program.'
Similarly, in the policy and program, it is mentioned that the population policy will be formulated to connect all government hospitals to a single online service, improve the citizen app, promote the production of basic and essential medicines and not allow the population growth rate to be lower than the rehabilitation rate.
