Discussions have started between the protesting teachers and the Ministry of Education. A few moments ago, the ministry started discussions with the representatives of the Federation at the Singha Durbar complex.

According to Deputy Secretary Neelkanth Dhakal, Information Officer of the Ministry of Education, 4 people including Education Minister Vidya Bhattarai, Education Secretary Deepak Kafle and 4 people including co-president Nanumaya Parajuli on behalf of the Federation are participating in the discussion. The discussion will determine the teacher's movement and how to proceed in the future. Information Officer Dhakal said .

Federation President Lakshman Kishore Subedi said that they have submitted their agenda. He said,  'There was no negotiation, we have submitted the agenda on our behalf.'

The teachers have been on street protest since March 20, and have announced a nationwide educational strike since Monday.

However, the Federation issued a statement saying that the agreement reached in the past would only come from the government agency with the approval of the Cabinet and the commitment to issue the School Education Act. Even now, rather than negotiating and agreeing, the main demand of the school education act is to be promulgated, the federation said.
