National Independent Party has won the chairmanship of Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No.-16. With this victory, RSVP has participated in local government.
This victory has been explained by the people's dissatisfaction with the old parties, the people's vote against the misrule of the ruling political parties along with the faith in the politics instilled by the people.
Kathmandu- Rosina Shrestha, the candidate of RSVP for the 16th election, has won by getting 2 thousand 9 hundred 2 votes. UML candidate Laxmiratna Tuladhar, who is leading the government, came second with 2,220 votes, while Devendra Pathak, the ruling Congress candidate, came third with 2,214 votes. Independent candidate Devendra Kumar Shrestha got 314 votes.
Kathmandu- Ganesh Parajuli, coordinator of the local level by-election central coordination committee of RSVP, said that the victory obtained on 16 was a 'change of vote' by conscious and independent voters. Parajuli, who is also an MP from the House of Representatives Constituency No. 7 in Kathmandu Metropolitan City Ward No. 16, said that conscious people have elected candidates who will serve with respect after paying taxes.
'The local level government, especially the ward chairman, is the most important position to provide services by connecting directly with the people. During the election campaign, we consulted the people that if we can establish a status in the local government, many things can be facilitated,' Parajuli said. People's complaints were that they could not get services easily even within the city, and that the tendency to connect with power and give bribes was increasing. The people who were affected by this changed their vote in Ward No. 16.'
Parajuli said that the people of Kathmandu-16 have been asked to invest their votes instead of voting for the RSVP candidate. We have voted so far. Don't invest now. We made the voters aware that they are going to invest their votes and invest towards the RSVP, and because the people were aware, they voted with confidence,' he said .
The president of Kathmandu-16, Kangre, won the local level elections of 2079. Parajuli said that now the people have chosen the RSVP because they did not fulfill their promises to the people. He said that the alert people found out that the old political parties lied with assurances, talked about confusion, were involved in corruption but talked about good governance .
KATHMANDU- Parajuli said that the issue of arresting and detaining President Ravi Lamichhane by RSVP in the 16th ward election was also presented to the voters. He said, 'Chairman Lamichhane has been arrested for political revenge, and we told the public that the parties that joined the government will not allow the new party to do anything. We found that the people sympathized with the RSVP and Speaker Lamichhane.'
Raswapa, which demonstrated on the streets against Lamichhane's arrest, recently decided to take the case to the people. He said that it was made clear in Kathmandu-16 as part of the campaign to tell the place where the local by-elections were held, and how political revenge was done against the Chairman Lamichhane.
