After entering the village and working in the fields, you can enjoy sitting at the homestay in the evening while watching the panoramic view of the mountain range towards the north. The geography of three districts can be observed from one place. Due to this feature, the 'Vegan Trekking Trail' of Baglung has started to become the choice of tourists.
Vegan groups of vegetarian foreigners and Nepalese regularly visit this route, while other tourists are also attracted by this trading route. Vegans, who do not eat or use animal products, prefer fruits and organic foods. Locals said that they like potato, hemp, corn and wheat dishes produced here.
A 'Vegan Trekking Trail' has been made from the Baglung headquarters, which was drawn a decade ago, to Bhakunde, Cigana, and up to Race. The number of tourists from the vegan group has increased every year on this trail. Those tourists not only visit but also help the locals in their work. Mahadev Sharma, a local tourism businessman, said that tourists come to see the mountains, eat organic food and have fun on this route, which is at a height of 2,500 meters above sea level.
has been famous for this root vegan group for the past 5 years. Tourists from different countries like UK, America and Europe come here and domestic tourists also visit regularly. When a vegan group comes, hotels, restaurants and homestays along the route serve vegetarian food after informing the businessmen in advance. On this route, Nepali hikers have been traveling for two days and foreigners for six days. Sharma said that the homestays on this route have also been made 'vegan friendly'.
International Vegan Organization and Nepal Vegan Group have jointly arranged a week-day tour schedule on this route. They work together with locals and take entertainment. Vegan groups of 10 to 50 people trade through this route at a time.
While trading from this route, you get a chance to see the Barah Lake at Bhakunde, stay at a homestay, watch the sunrise, see the snow ranges including Dhaulagiri, Annapurna and Machhapuchhre. After staying at Bhakunde, tourists walk for up to 3 hours a day and enjoy being with the local community. 'Vegan group tourists prefer to walk,' said Apsara Thapa, owner of Bhakunde's homestay Root has been created.
British tourist Maddy said that she was happy to be able to see, understand and understand Nepali art and culture, taste dishes and enjoy working in the fields with the locals during the introduction of farming. She also suggested to increase the agricultural production and to increase the production commercially by creating a brand of local liquor. Local homestay owner Khim Bahadur Thapa said that tourists who come here are happy because they can observe the cold weather and the mountain range. The members of the vegan group are not only tourists but also reach the village with environmental protection campaign.
Last year, high officials of the International Vegan Organization also visited this route. They said that expanding the trading route to spread the message of non-violence was a pleasure in itself. Most vegan groups emphasize environmental protection. Also, Sharma said, they emphasize on non-violence, brotherhood and production. With the development of the vegan route, homestays are also operating in rural areas.
