20-year-old Ashmi Tamang of Dhulikhel-4 has a special interest in food. After watching the video, she prepares some food herself and serves it. Currently, she is learning how to make Japanese food sushi. Since last May, she has been receiving training in this regard at the Innovative Hospitality Management Training Center in Banepa.
Ashmi, who is understanding the difference between learning by watching and learning by training, added, 'When you watch the video of Susi making, you only need to set the food and roll it, but as easy as it looks, making it yourself is not easy.' It will be difficult to do, the more challenging thing is to roll it.'
23-year-old Vijay Kingring of Bhimkhori located in Roshi rural municipality-11 of Kavre is also taking Susi making training for a month. "Recently, I have found that many people are interested in sushi here," said Vijay, "I am learning it because I think it will be good to learn it." If this 'dis' is also included in the menu, would there be a situation where many people would get jobs in Nepal? Ashmi thought of going abroad after she heard that she would get jobs abroad soon after going to make Susi. However, after learning, she changed her mind. "Initially, I thought I would go abroad after learning this skill," she said, "but now I make susi and feed the foreigners who come to Nepal here, I have thought of doing something new professionally." Besides, she is now also teaching 6 people to make sushi.
Like Ashmi and Vijay, 70 youths are taking Susi making training at the training center in Banepa. 30-year-old Vinod Shah of Dhulikhel-10 Thakurichap has been teaching for the past 3 months. Coach Shah said that many young people have been attracted to Susi making training recently. He argues that many young people are interested because it is easy to get a job abroad if they have the skills to make it.
Vinod has not received formal training in Susi making. He studied there when he went to Cyprus for his studies. "I learned by watching the elders make it during my stay there for 5 and a half years," he added, who returned to Nepal two years ago Vinod said that there are more young people who are planning to go abroad to learn.
According to him, there are 5 types of sushi, Chirasi, Sasami, Nigiri, Maki and Gunkan. Of these, Maki is preferred by many. It also has 4 types such as futomaki, bosomaki, uramaki, temaki. The 'ingredients' put in it make a difference in the taste of sushi. In the training, the trainees are informed about sushi, taught to make different types of sushi, plating etc.
Kamdev Shah Thakuri, manager of the training provider organization, said that the interest in susi making training is increasing and the number of people coming to learn the skill is also increasing. According to him, since there are many people who come to learn the skills, they have been taught in different 'shifts' from 7 am to 6 pm.
'We have other trainings in this institution,' Kamdev said, 'We have started Susi making training since last May when many people who come here have shown their desire to take Susi training.' He said that he did.
In Japan, the famous food sushi is made by adding vinegar to the rice. Susi requires ingredients such as 'vinegar' (sour), nori (food made from seaweed), fish, shrimp, sausage, avocado, carrot, cucumber, mango, dragon fruit, etc. First, the rice is cooked with vinegar, then the cooked food is mixed in the nori, then the 'ingredients' according to the taste are placed in the food and rolled. It is 'served' by 'plating' it with sushi ginger, wasabi, soy sauce, radish.
