The ride-hailing platform InDrive was sometimes questioned for operating the service unregistered and unofficially. This platform was also under suspicion regarding the fact that it did not come under the scope of tax and did not even have passenger insurance facilities. It was also natural that there was confusion about what to do in case of an emergency due to the absence of its representative, contact point and office in Nepal.

Rita Pokharel decided to remain behind the scenes until all these confusions and challenges are removed and especially until the company is registered. But with all these confusions over, she came out as the Nepal director for Indrive with a face full of satisfaction. Indrive's Asia Pacific Communications Head Pavit Nanda Anand introduced Rita in a press conference last Monday. Soon after, Rita said, 'So far, who is behind the drive? was the question. Now I have come. You will be able to wave and ask questions wherever you meet me.'

It's only been a year since Rita joined InDrive. During this period she worked hard for one thing, lobbying. She has been constantly pestering the relevant government agencies that ride sharing services should be addressed by law. Finally, last January, the government amended the Industrial Business Act, 2076 and recognized ride sharing as a service industry. By adding Serial No. 66 to Schedule 8 of the Act, provision has been made regarding ride sharing services.  After the amendment to the

act, the documents of Indrive stored in the industry department were dug up again. InDrive was registered as a ride-sharing company with a foreign direct investment of Rs 5 crore. ``We also have a hand in making this law,'' says Rita. I wanted to show the work and the results. It's a great feeling to come out with a significant achievement.” Rita's focus will now be on making InDrive's office more organized. In addition to that, she said that there is a plan to analyze the market on the various facilities that the company is providing in other countries that can be provided in Nepal as well. 

According to Rita, there are currently around 30 employees at InDrive's office in Hattisar. They work to help their customers and riders. Rita says that the manpower has been managed in such a way that if there is any problem related to passengers and drivers, they will be on alert 24 hours a day. "As soon as we receive information about incidents such as accidents, fights, abuses, we respond immediately," she said at the press conference, "We have also been cooperating closely with the police." Just yesterday, we solved some of the questions asked by the police within an hour.' 

Rita was born and brought up in Sunval in West Nawalparasi. She went to UK in 2009 for higher education studies. She completed a three-year diploma in accounting and financial administration at the University of Greenwich, followed by an extended diploma course in organizational leadership at the College of East London. She then returned to Nepal in 2017 after completing a Masters in Business Administration from the University of Sunderland.
