Newly appointed Chief Minister of Madhesh Province, Saroj Kumar Yadav, has admitted that he pressured the provincial chief to take the oath.
Addressing a press conference on Tuesday, he said that the appointment was in accordance with the constitution and that pressure was exerted to get him sworn in. 'If other parties surround you, we will surround you too,' Chief Minister Yadav said, 'You cannot create confusion by making appointments. I have asked you to take oath where you are.' Yadav said that Jitendra Prasad Sonal resigned after the possibility of getting a vote of confidence failed. He also claimed that his appointment was legal. 'Since the same provincial chief was right in appointing Sonal, his appointment is also legal,' he said.
In another context, he said that no one has suggested the dissolution of the provincial assembly. He said that he would reject it even if someone did. He said that the provincial chief was removed from the post due to the government's intentions. 'This may create more doubts about federalism,' he said.
He said that he had argued that 3 out of 168 were attracted after the vote of confidence failed for the first time. Yadav said that the Chief Minister's office was burnt down after the Gen-G movement, so he could not take charge. He also said that he would accept the decision of the Supreme Court.
