Madhesh Chief Minister appointment controversy: Vandalism in front of the provincial chief's office

Leaders and supporters of seven political parties have vandalized the office of Provincial Chief Sumitra Bhandari at Madhesh Bhavan in protest against the appointment of a Chief Minister in Madhesh.

Leaders and activists of seven parties, including the Congress and the Maoists, are protesting in front of the Madhesh Bhavan. They are shouting slogans against the provincial chief and demanding that the anti-federal provincial chief resign.

The parties have come out in protest after provincial chief Sumitra Devi Bhandari appointed UML parliamentary party leader Saroj Kumar Yadav as the chief minister on Monday morning as the leader of the first party in the provincial assembly in accordance with Article 168 (3) of the constitution. Representatives and MPs of the seven parties had demonstrated in front of the gate to stop the newly appointed Chief Minister Yadav from coming to Madhesh Bhavan after the news of his arrival.

After the then Chief Minister Jitendra Sonal resigned without seeking a vote of confidence, the Congress, Maoists, CPN-U, LSP, Janamat, JSP and Nagarik Unmukti Party had demanded on Sunday to move forward the process of forming a government as per Article 168 (2) of the constitution. However, Province Chief Bhandari was appointed as the Chief Minister and administered the oath of office there on Monday morning at a hotel in Bardibas.
