One thousand 619 families have been displaced in Sarlahi due to flooding and erosion after incessant rains and lack of water drainage. 19 people were rescued by security personnel.

According to the District Police Office, Sarlahi, 1,619 families have been displaced by the flood and are living in safe places throughout the district. Among them, Deputy Superintendent of Police Saroj Rai informed that 20 mud houses were completely damaged due to the water of Lakhandehi River in Chakraghatta Rural Municipality-1, Padaria.

Lakhandehi River has caused the most damage in the district. According to the police, rivers such as Manushmara, Jhim, Soti, Bagmati have also caused problems of erosion and flooding in places.

After incessant rain, 700 houses of Balra Municipality-2 have been flooded. Around 200 houses in Malangwa Municipality-5, Bhadsar have been inundated due to the flood in the Lakhandehi river with rain water. Around 400 households have not been able to return home since Sunday morning after the Lakhandehi river cut the dam in Kaudena Rural Municipality-7, Shivnagar and entered the settlement.

Dozens of houses in Hariwan, Kabilasi, Barhathwa Municipality and Chakraghatta, Kaudena, Basbaria Rural Municipality have been inundated due to flood and rainwater. After incessant rains, the Malangwa-Sonwarsha main crossing along with the district customs office at the headquarters Malangwa, police station Gorakhkali has also been flooded. Secretary General of Civil Society Shivchandra Chaudhary informed that Malangwa was inundated when India built a road for security patrols near the border.
