Ratu River has overflowed the dam in Jaleshwar Municipality-8 Ratbara. The flood water washed away the dam at 3 places. As the water in the Ratu River is rising and the dam has collapsed, Jaleshwar and other places have become unsafe.
Chief District Officer Narayan Prasad Risal said that the risk of river water entering Jaleshwar has increased. Risal said that the Ratu river has dammed Balwa, Loharpatti, Ratbara and other places.
'There is no risk if the water comes only because of overflow in the place where the dam has been eroded and washed away,' Prazia Risal said, 'If the water level rises and there is further erosion, the risk of flooding in Jaleshwar and other places has increased . However, since the water level in the downstream area of the Ratu River is decreasing, we have alerted the risk area.'
Risal said that security personnel have been mobilized in the area where the dam has overflowed and warnings have been issued in the flood-prone areas. Due to continuous rains and floods, most places in Mahottari have been without electricity since Saturday.
