Dr. Madhav Bahadur Thapa, who is spending time in homeopathy services in Butwal, Rupandehi, won the district committee membership in the Nepali Congress general convention in Palpa 3 years ago. Although he lives in Rupandehi, Ribdikot Rural Municipality-7, Palpa was his birthplace. That is why he decided to serve Palpa by expanding his reach in Palpa.

That is why he says he chose politics. A few months ago, he took membership of the Ujjaya Nepal Party. After the Ujjaya National Independent Party (RASWP) merged, he chose the RSWP. This is why he came to Palpa with a ticket for a member of the House of Representatives. Thapa has been elected as a member of the House of Representatives from Palpa-2. Thapa was elected by securing 26,736 votes. Thapa's closest competitor, Himal Dutta Shrestha of the Nepali Congress, received 12,992 votes.

Similarly, Thakur Prasad Gaire of CPN (UML) got 10,503 votes, Som Prasad Pandey of Nepali Communist Party got 5,288 votes and Dev Prasad Shrestha of National Republic Nepal got 693 votes. In Palpa constituency number-2, CPN had won by a wide margin in 2074 BS. In the 2070 Constituent Assembly member election, the constituency was won by Hari Prasad Nepal of Nepali Congress.

In the first Constituent Assembly member election in 2064 BS, Kul Prasad Nepal of Nepali Congress won. In the 2056 BS House of Representatives member election, the constituency was won by Yadav Bahadur Rayamajhi of Nepali Congress and in 2051 BS, the constituency was won by Bishnu Prasad Poudel. In the 2048 BS election, Nepali Congress won.

Thapa, who was elected in this election, said after his victory that he was the MP of all Palpalis. He said that he would work to establish an agenda of change. ‘During the election campaign, we have presented some commitments and agendas to the general public and voters,’ he said, ‘I will work for the development of the entire Palpa after becoming a parliamentarian and will play an important role in those issues.’

He said that he will work for all the people and will always work for the development of this region. Earlier, UML’s Gaire had won in Palpa-2. Thapa has been asking for votes, saying that he will complete the work that could not be done in the past and that the responsibility should be placed on the shoulders of the youth, and he has asked them to complete it. ‘I understand the problems faced by the people in my region,’ he said, ‘Even though my workplace is outside the district, I am well-known and popular in my region.’ Thapa says that he will work on infrastructure development such as education, health, employment, and roads in Region-2. ‘I have seen a demand among the new youth that youth leadership should be brought forward,’ he said.

Who is Thapa?

Born in Palpa's Ribdikot-7, Palpa in Kartik 2037, Thapa comes from a simple farmer's family background.
