For the election of members of the House of Representatives to be held on February 21, 18 people have registered their candidacies from Udayapur Constituency No. 1. According to Chief Electoral Officer Mukesh Upadhyay, the time for nominations has passed and 18 people have filed their candidacies.

Former district president Bidur Basnet has filed his nomination from the Nepali Congress. Former mayor of Belka Municipality Durga Kumar Thapa (Swasti) from the CPN-UML and Baldev Chaudhary from the Nepali Communist Party have filed their candidacies. Chaudhary, who is also the former mayor of Triyuga Municipality, is a central member of the CPN. Chaudhary became the central secretary of the party after the then Nepal Communist Party split and Madhav Nepal and others formed the CPN (S). Similarly, Parasmani Gelal has filed his candidacy from the National Independent Party. 

Arjun Tamang from the Ujjaya Nepal Party, Rajesh Kumar Rai from the Shram Sanskriti Party, Subhash Chandra Khadka from the Rastriya Prajatantra Party, and Lil Kumar Rai from the Rastriya Janamorcha have filed their nominations. Similarly, Ganesh Kumar Rai of the Janata Samajwadi Party, Amrit Bahadur Khatri of the CPN (Maoist), Kusheshwor Chaudhary of the Nepali Janata Dal, Gokarna Rai of the Nepal Janmukti Party, Prashant Kumar Rai of the Citizen Supremacy Party, Badri Bikram Rai of the Mangal National Organization, Manoj Kumar Poudel of the Aam Janata Party, Bishnu Bahadur Khatri of the Nepal Mazdoor Kisan Party, Suresh Rai of the United Citizen Party and Dr. Devraj Roka (Kalyan) have filed their candidacies as independent candidates, the Chief Election Officer's Office has said.

Udayapur Federal Constituency No. 1 has 142,804 voters. The District Election Office has stated that there are 52 polling stations and 160 polling stations in 35 wards of Belka, Chaudandigadhi and Triyuga municipalities.
