Although it was agreed to restart the counting from 8 am on Sunday after internal discussions, the counting of votes has not started till noon. UML Jhapa District President Prem Bahadur Giri said that the counting was stopped last night due to a minor technical error during the counting of votes. According to him, the counting could not start because all the candidates had not arrived even though the counting was said to start from 8 am. However, he said that efforts are being made to reach an agreement for the counting as the candidates are still coming.

In Jhapa 2, 19 people are competing for 5 general convention representatives on the open side. There is a tough competition between the incumbent minister, MP, district president, city president, and mayor. District President Giri informed that 600 votes are yet to be counted here.

Jhapa Constituency 2 is the constituency of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Devraj Ghimire. He was elected as a member of the House of Representatives from here in the 2079 elections.
