The number of families displaced by floods in Jhapa has exceeded 25,000.

After the incessant rains since October 19, various local level settlements of the district have been flooded. According to Police Office Jhapa, 25,231 people from 5,481 houses have been displaced due to flood.

About 24,000 people from 5,189 households of Jhapa Rural Municipality have been displaced. 

especially the locals of Jhapa Rural Municipality 1, 2, 3, 6 and 7 have been highly affected. My river has flooded in this ward. The affected have been transferred to a safe place. 

Likewise, 182 members from 47 households of Shivasatakshi Municipality, 246 members from 41 households of Gauriganj Rural Municipality  have been displaced. 

Similarly, 144 people from 31 households in Gauradah, 90 people from 27 households in Bhadrapur have been displaced. 

All the displaced people have made temporary camps in relatives, local schools, community buildings and temples.

According to District Police Office Jhapa, floods have also caused great damage in the settlements of Arjundhara, Mechinagar, Gauradah, Buddhashanti Rural Municipality. The flood has also damaged houses, goats, cattle, food crops and electricity-road structures.

According to the District Administration Office, Jhapa, rescue operations are ongoing with the help of the police, armed forces and local residents. 

The District Disaster Management Committee has said that it has coordinated with the local level to supply food, water and medicine to the victims for the time being.
