CPN-UML's Kumari Sawaden has won as the ward president of Sirijanga rural municipality 3 of the district. Sawaden won by defeating Amvi Souden of Natale Maiti Maoist Center by 102 votes. She got 353 votes while Amvi of Maoist got 251 votes.
Congress, which won the ward president position earlier, came third. There were 1,528 voters and 889 votes were cast here.
Kumari was defeated by 4 votes against Congress candidate Dil Prasad Bokhim in the 2079 election. There were 5 candidates namely Bhim Laxamba Limbu from Congress, Kumari from UML, Ambi from Maoist Center, Devi Prasad Paudel from National Independent Party and Rajendra Kangwa Limbu from Federal Democratic National Forum.
Bhim of Congress got 218 votes. Rajendra got 54 votes while Devi Prasad of RSVP got only 7 votes.
Kumari has become the only woman ward president in the district which has 61 wards. She has made a commitment to maintain good governance, advocate relatively more in favor of women, organize health institutions, etc.
In the 2074 election, Urmila Thewe in Sirijanga-1 Sinam and Bima Ojha were elected as Ward Presidents of Fungling Municipality-5. Thewe is now a member of the House of Representatives, while Ojha is the deputy head of Fungling Municipality.
