Ravi Lamichhane, former Home Minister and chairman of the National Independent Party (RASP), has started a demonstration in Pokhara to protest against the arrest of Ravi Lamichhane for investigation into cooperative fraud and organized crime.

RSVP leaders and activists started the demonstration at Human Rights Chowk Chipledhunga after 11.30 am on Saturday morning. They have taken to the streets with placards and banners and are shouting slogans against the government. District level leaders are speaking at the demonstration.

Lamichhane was arrested by a team of the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) of the police from the party central office in Kathmandu on charges of cooperative fraud and organized crime including Suryadarshan. Soon Lamichhane was brought here by land and handed over to District Police Office Kaski.

Lamichhane was also recommended to be investigated by the parliamentary investigation special committee concluding that cooperative savings had been misappropriated. It is alleged that Lamichhane, when he was the then Managing Director of Gorkha Media Network, embezzled the cooperative's savings by taking it to the said media.
