Jeevan, who won the Dharmashree title in 2055, is active in popularizing the sport of 'Strength Lifting' in Nepal
The 50-year-old Jeevan Giri of Kapilvastu Municipality-5, Sagartol used to play sitorio karate in the covered hall at Gaudhi Chowk, headquarters Taulihwa around 2045/46. His friend used to do 'weight lifting' there. Then he was also attracted to it. However, he had a lot of problems due to lack of financial resources.
I felt that nothing could be done if I did not practice properly. I figured out a trick, made a dumbbell by putting two 10, 20 and 30 kg weights and cement on sand. Started practicing from that. With constant dedication and hard work, he became a national bodybuilding and strength lifting world champion.
Now he has shown that a lot can be done with the game. He says that he is happy to make the country's name known to the world through strength lifting. He is also an international champion in strength lifting, from the winner of the Dharmashree title, which is considered the Olympics of physical fitness in Nepal. He won the 10th World Championship held by the World Strength Lifting Federation in Hyderabad, India in 2023.
He became the champion after defeating the American player in the weight group of more than 115 kg. Players from 19 countries participated in the tournament. Being a good and best athlete of strength lifting, he has also been recognized as an international judge (referee) of strength lifting. He was a referee at the 11th World Championship tournament in Kazakhstan in 2024.
In the beginning Jeevan participated in Mr. Lumbini's physical fitness organized in Bhairahawa in 051. He was the first. In 1955, he won the Dharmashree title in an important bodybuilding competition. He conducted Mr. Lumbini zonal level Mr. Lumbini competition in 2052 and Mr. Western Development Zone level in 2054 from 'Olympian Gym Club'.
In the first South Asian bodybuilding competition held in Nashik, India in 1999, 3 people including Giri gave medals for the country. The first South Asian level medal of bodybuilding was brought in by the team with him.
After winning various titles with Dharmashree, he went to Saudi Arabia to become a gym coach. From there he reached Bahrain. He returned to Nepal after working abroad for 15 years from 2000. Then went back to the gym. In 2019, Kapilvastu Shri organized a national competition to promote Buddhasthal Tilaurakot. He is equally active in a leadership role saying that
players encourage the game and new talents more. After becoming the Kapilvastu district president of physical fitness, he also became the vice president of 'World Power Lifting Federation' (WPF) Asia in 2020. Now he is a member of the executive committee of the World Strength Lifting Association.
He is also the founder general secretary of Nepal Strength Lifting Association. An international level competition of strength lifting was held in Kathmandu in 2023 at Jeevan Kai's initiative. Along with Nepal, players from India, Pakistan, Tajikistan and Kyrgyzstan participated.
Jeevan is the judge in the 34th National Strength Lifting Competition starting this week in Haryana, India. He has a beautiful face, an attractive body and a strong figure, and recently he has been asked to act in films. He will be seen in the film 'Seven Villains' which is going to be produced by Rajendra Khadgi. The Lumbini State Government also awarded him the State Ratna Vibhushan in 079 in recognition of his contribution to the field of sports.
