Singer Daisy Bareilly's family atmosphere was musical. From parents to maternal uncles, they used to do ganabaza. Deusibhailo used to go to Bihabtulo to sing. That atmosphere increased Daisy's fascination with singing. Born on April 25, 1960 in Rangamuk Chia Kaman, Darjeeling, she had been singing since the age of 10.
"I became a singer with the help of Mama Bhim Bahadur Lakandri," Daisy remembered those days sitting in front of Bhanu Bhavan in Darjeeling. The family sent Daisy to the city of Darjeeling in 1974 after seeing her passion for singing. She was admitted to St. Rogers Gals High School in Darjeeling in class 5. Along with studying, she also started singing. His association with Karma Yonjan, Badri Durga Kharels sharpened his singing.
In the year 1975, Badri Durga Kharel, Dawa Gyalmo, Ganesh Sharma and other leading organizers entered Nepal for the first time by crossing Daisy Mechi. At that time she had just turned 15 and was only 16 years old. A grand musical program was held at the Nepal Police Club in Kathmandu. Daisy recorded the song 'Bhainsi Ladyo Hai Maya' in the same meso. Composed and composed by Kamal Darnal, the song was recorded at Ratna Recording Studio.
Daisy's first song to be recorded in Nepal is 'Mayalule maiyo ki kaso'. Written by Shashi Thatal, the song has music by Shanti Thatal. Daisy and Dava Galmo recorded the song as a duet. Before going to Nepal, Daisy passed the voice test from All India Radio, Kharsang.
Then Darjeeling-Nepal started going back and forth. In the year 2041, when she went to Nepal for the second time, she returned after recording four other songs, including 'Badalma Nachi Chakne Pahad Ki Sani'.
After 8 years, she went to Nepal again. Sang a song at Pragya Bhawan with singer and actor Muralidhar. In 2059, she came to Nepal for the third time by joining the musical team of Darjeeling Gorkha Parvatya Parishad. She went to Nepal for the Palenti program in 2063. He last visited Kathmandu in 2076. She reached Kathmandu after her daughter Vimochna was selected in the 'Voice of Nepal' program. And she repeated after 44 years on the stage of Voice, 'Bhainsi Ladyo Hai Maya Bhirbatan Her.'
She is going to Nepal again after about three months. To sing in the Palanti series. Daughter Vimochana and husband musician Chandan Lamjel are also going along. "Our program will be held in February," said Daisy in a melodious voice, "the three of us are preparing for that program." Husband is a musician, daughter is a singer and son is a guitarist. All artists are artists. Pati Lamzel has composed music for more than 200 songs.
Swarasamrat Narayan Gopal has sung the song 'Mera sabu raatru ab maatharu hoe' sung by Chandan. This song is composed by Norden Rumba. Son Anmol keeps going back and forth between Darjeeling and Mumbai. He belongs to singer Mohit Chauhan's team. He plays the guitar.
Daisy sang about one and a half to two hundred songs. There were hundreds of recordings. However, buffalo fighting gave him recognition. Wherever there are Nepali speakers including Nepal, India, Bhutan, Myanmar, Daisy became famous there. Daisy's popularity remains the same among the latest generation.
Gopal Yonjan was the man behind the recording of that old song. Yonjan from Darjeeling went to Kathmandu in the 1960s. Daisy knew Gopal through her brother Karma. "I have found that my song is loved by the younger generation as well," said Daisy trying to hide the cold tone coming from Chaurasta, "I don't know why that song got so much love."
Daisy got married in 1983. Chandan met at a musical event. Daisy made him her life partner. Music was the reason why they met. She managed these three tasks: family life, song/music and government job. She is working in 'Social Welfare Department'. "There is only one and a half years left for vacation," Daisy, who is over 60 years old, added, "After my job, I will spend all my life in music."
Some of Darjeeling did not want to leave their birthplace and go to Nepal. She got the chance. However, Janmatholo's love stopped him. Daisy also had a good relationship with Narayan Gopal. She sang with Swar Samrat in a program at Narayanghat. "When I was young, he used to love me so much that he used to advise me not to give up singing," said Daisy. Darjeeling talents – Karma Yonjan, Dawa Gyalmo, Kumar Subba, Kamal Darnal, Shanti Thatal, Jas Yonjan Payasi, Manikamal Chhetri and others, she got the support and company till later.
An open book after his buffalo fight, Bhikhari Hoon Ma, Kati Bagyo Kati Bagyo, Pul Muni Pani Resham are classy songs that are highly loved by listeners. Daisy's father Chandra Singh was the headmaster of Rangamuk Public Primary School. Mother Radhika is a tea worker. Chiakman's manager was British. The manager's wife had given her the name 'Daisy'. Even now, Daisy is unshakable in the Nepali public as an invaluable treasure of Nepali music. His songs are still inspiring to dive into the depths of emotion.
