Targeting the UML general convention, the Nagdhunga-Malekhu road will not be closed today and tomorrow. A notice was issued to close the road for five hours daily from Wednesday to Poush 1 and blacktop it. Work has already begun by closing the road for five hours daily from Wednesday.

The road was completely opened after the UML-affiliated youth association demanded that the road be opened, saying that it would cause problems if the road was closed during the general convention. The work was stopped for Friday and Saturday, and the road was completely opened. The youth association team had met Minister for Physical Infrastructure and Transport Kulman Ghising on Wednesday and requested him to open the road for two days for the general convention. The UML general convention is starting in Bhaktapur from Saturday. UML had said that the road would be blocked as representatives from all over the country would come to the capital.

The road will be opened for two days now and then the road will be closed as per the pre-determined schedule, said Keshav Prasad Ojha, head of the Nagdhunga-Muglin Road Planning Office. The road has been partially closed as the road section needs to be blacktopped and upgraded. The Road Department has given high priority to the blacktopping of the Nagdhunga-Piplamod section of this road, which falls within Kathmandu district.

Therefore, since the section is narrower than elsewhere and requires the deployment of many heavy equipment and transportation vehicles at once to blacktop, Chief Ojha said that the work will be carried out by stopping vehicle traffic for some time.
