On the first day of 'Naima Mobility Expo-2025', 15,000 people visited the exhibition on Wednesday. The organizer Nepal Automobile Importers and Manufacturers Association (NAIMA) said that 80,000 people will visit the five-day exhibition.
The exhibition, which will run until July 25, was inaugurated by Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Bishnu Prasad Paudel. He said that the government is in favor of a stable policy to increase the morale of the private sector.
"While preparing the budget, we sat down and discussed with the private sector," he said, "It was not the finance minister, but the private sector that made the budget, so we brought the budget according to the expectations." "The government is focusing on how to raise the morale of the private sector, how to create confidence and employment," he said. Minister Paudel said that the construction of road infrastructure is a matter of high priority of the government.
He said that he is confident that the private sector will also support the government's campaign to speed up the construction of quality road infrastructure. "There is no international level exhibition venue in the capital, which was not suitable for us," he said, "In the budget of the current financial year, the government has allocated the budget to build an international level exhibition track at Bhrikutimandap with high priority, it can be built within three years at the most." He said that they are investing in the development of skilled manpower in collaboration and this will ensure inclusive and future-oriented employment for Nepalese youth. Vaidya said that since
is a non-profit organization, all the income from the expo and other activities will be spent on the development of the automobile sector and transportation related issues. She said that this sector directly and indirectly employed more than 1.24 million people and contributed 7.13 percent to the total domestic product.
With more than 5.5 million registered vehicles, this sector is creating jobs in the fields of sales, maintenance, logistics, infrastructure, etc. 50 brands of vehicles are on display at the expo. In addition, 35 new variants of vehicles have been released, according to the organizer Naima.
The exhibition space is filled with two and four-wheeled vehicles. Two-wheelers of 17 brands are displayed at the expo. There is a competition between the companies to give discounts on the vehicles that are kept in the expo organized targeting the festival. The companies said that such discounts, which will be announced at the expo, will continue throughout the festive season.
According to Shirish Murarka, coordinator of the organizing committee, the largest expo in the history of Nepal has been organized. "The expo we started is not only an exhibition of vehicles and technology," he said, "it is also the beginning of a collective commitment towards a clean, smart and inclusive transportation system." He said that this program is a common campaign to build the future of Nepal's mobility sector.
Gaurav Sharda, a member of the expo committee, said that the expo will be open from Thursday till 8 pm as the participation on the first day is encouraging. "On the first day, the participation of the observers was better than expected," he said, "Tickets are available from the second day till 7 pm. The expo runs till 8 o'clock.'
'I liked the managerial aspect of the expo'
Lokesh Oli (Bijuli Dai), EV influencer
'How did you feel about 'Naima Mobility Expo-2025'?
While going to the expo, I saw a lot of cars. Compared to past auto shows, its management aspect is very good. The auto show was crowded since early morning. Wherever I went inside the auto show, I felt like a hero. Because the red carpet was rolled out everywhere. Even though it was raining, the auto show was well conducted. This time, more companies selling electric vehicles were seen than diesel-petrol vehicles. This is a visible change in the auto sector. What should be done to further improve the
expo?
became too narrow to exhibit at the Bhrikutimandap. This place must have been fine when there were 3/4 car companies earlier. But now car companies have increased. Accordingly, there is not enough space. The government needs to pay attention to this. It was nice to see that even such a narrow space was well managed and the vehicles were put on display.
What can be done to promote electric vehicles?
The government has given good support in the import of electric vehicles. If diesel and petrol cars were taxed, there wouldn't be as many EVs as there are now. We are promoting such vehicles. I have been working to raise public awareness that electric vehicles should be used to save the environment. Other influencers are also coming and promoting it. But the government needs to build the infrastructure accordingly.
