The RPP has finalized candidates for both constituencies of Makawanpur for the February 21 House of Representatives elections.
Former MP Deepak Bahadur Singh and Ram Bahadur Thokar are set to contest from Makawanpur-1 and Constituency No. 2, respectively.
Singh had won from Makawanpur-1 in the 2079 BS election. His nearest rival was Mahalaxmi (Dina) Upadhyay of the Nepali Congress. Singh won by securing 27,816 votes, while Dina secured 25,423 votes.
In the upcoming election, UML has fielded Rameshwar Rana as its candidate from Makawanpur-1. The Nepali Congress and the Nepali Communist Party have not yet finalized their candidates.
In Makawanpur-2, UML has given a ticket to former MP Mahesh Bartaula, while the former mayor of Thaha Municipality, Lavsher Bista, is set to be the candidate from the Nepali Congress in that constituency.
