Venezuela's Supreme Court on Saturday named Vice President Dilsey Rodriguez as acting president.

The court ruling states that Rodriguez has been given full authority to run the government in the absence of President Nicolas Maduro.

Earlier on Saturday, President Maduro and his wife Cilia Flores were taken into custody by US forces. They are currently being held at the Brooklyn Detention Center in New York.

US President Trump had claimed that the US would run Venezuela until peace was restored after this attack.
