Former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson was born on this day (June 19) in 1964. He was the Prime Minister of the United Kingdom from 24 July 2019 to 6 September 2022.
Johnson became an MP in 2001 and was elected Mayor of London in 2008. Re-elected as mayor in 2012, Johnson became an MP in the 2015 general election. He became powerful within the party when he stood against party leader and Prime Minister David Cameron in the 2016 Brexit referendum.
After that, he became Foreign Minister in the government led by Theresa May. But Johnson resigned after saying the prime minister was unable to negotiate with the European Union. Johnson became party leader and prime minister in July 2019 after May resigned from the party after failing to push through Brexit.
After failing to get the Brexit proposal passed by the parliament, he declared a general election in 2019 and gave the party a majority. But he resigned from the post after he was found guilty of violating the rules related to covid and defending the party leaders.
