Baitadi Jail, which has a capacity of 25, has no room for 63 female prisoners

There is no place to keep women prisoners in the district jail, Baitadi. Since there is no separate room for women prisoners in the old dilapidated prison, they have been sent to Dadeldhura prison.

In the year 2040, a prison building with a capacity of 25 prisoners including 15 men and 10 women was constructed. There are more than twice the capacity of prisoners and detainees in prisons. Now there are only 63 men including 53 prisoners and 10 detainees. And there are only four toilets for them. Sometimes the inmates have to wait in line for a long time to go to the toilet.

Krishna Bahadur Chand, the shopkeeper of District Jail Baitadi, said that a two-story bed has been arranged for sleeping. "Because there is only one block to keep prisoners, we have not been able to keep women prisoners," he said, "as soon as the decision is made, we will send women prisoners directly from the court to Dadeldhura."

There are 15 prisoners of duty, 19 of which are 4 prisoners and 17 prisoners of coercion, 1 of whom are 18. In other cases, there are only 1/2 prisoners . Khirar Chand said that one chowkidar, one nurse, one teacher and 5 assistants were responsible for managing the internal administration of the prison.

"There is no atmosphere of faction-sub-faction in the prisoners," said Khirar Chand. The prison is being guarded by Nepal Police.
