UML and Maoist Center have coordinated in the by-election for the post of vice president in Swamikartik Rural Municipality of Bajura. Both the parties have agreed on the distribution of posts even for the local elections of 2008 and have coordinated in the current elections.
According to the electoral coordination, the Maoist is helping the UML in the by-elections. Rajukumari Vick, who had filed her candidacy from the Maoists, has withdrawn her candidature in favor of UML candidate Sulochana Bhandari Budha. She is involved in the election campaign of UML candidates.
Maoists are divided into two groups on the issue of electoral coordination with UML. The district committee of the party is against the alignment. "We have coordinated with the UML aiming at the 084 election," said Randip Budha, Chairman of Swamikartik Village Committee of Maoists. UML Swamikartik village committee chairman Navraj Kattel said, "We have reached an agreement to give the Maoist center a vice president and president in two wards in the local elections of 084."
Swamikartik has Pultisara Shahi from Congress and Jawa Shahi from United Samajwadi. Budha, the UML candidate, was also the vice-presidential candidate in 079. After the death of Mainadevi Joshi, the vice-president elected by the Congress in Swamikartik on January 4, 2008, the by-election is about to be held.
