Qatar managed to hold Switzerland to a 1-1 draw in Saturday's match of the FIFA World Cup 2026.

Boulem Khoukhi scored in the fifth minute of injury time to give Qatar its first point in World Cup history.

Qatar played in the World Cup for the first time since hosting the tournament in 2022 and lost all three matches. However, Qatar, which has won the Asian Cup twice in a row in 2019 and 2023, has only qualified for the World Cup this time.

Qatar had a good chance to score in the third minute when veteran Swiss defender Manuel Akanji made a mistake, but Swiss goalkeeper Gregor Kobel saved Edmilson Junior's shot.

Switzerland also wasted a similar opportunity. Switzerland, who were dominating the midfield, missed the opportunity to take the lead in the 10th minute. Ricardo Rodriguez's cross from the left was headed wide by Dan Ndoye from 10 yards out.

Switzerland finally took the lead in the 17th minute . Brill Embolo scored from the penalty spot to give Switzerland the lead in the 17th minute . He scored his 25th goal for the national team .

But in the fifth minute of 6 minutes of injury time, captain Khoukhi scored a goal from a beautiful cross from the Debra side to level the score for Qatar at 1-1 .
