Lumbini Lions comfortably defeated Sudurpaschim Royals in the final of the Nepal Premier League (NPL) cricket after captain Rohit Poudel took a hat-trick of wickets.

Rohit took 3 consecutive wickets in the 11th over of the final match at the Tribhuvan University International Cricket Ground, Kirtipur on Saturday. Sudurpaschim, who came in to bat after winning the toss, was all out for 85 runs in 19.1 overs. Sudurpaschim failed to score 100 runs for the first time in the NPL.

Rohit dismissed Dipendra Singh Airi, Deepak Bohara and Puneet Mehra in consecutive balls. Sudurpaschim captain Dipendra scored 13 runs in 20 balls, while Deepak and Puneet were dismissed in the first ball they faced. Lumbini was in complete control of the game after Rohit's brilliant bowling spell.

This is only the second hat-trick wicket in the NPL. Kathmandu Gorkhaz's Shahab Alam had taken wickets in 3 consecutive balls against Pokhara Avengers in this tournament.

Sudurpaschim's wickets did not stop falling after Binod Bhandari was dismissed for duck in the last ball of the first over. Lumbini tall Namibian fast bowler Ruben Trumpelman, who dismissed Binod, dismissed Indian player Sheldon Jackson lbw for 1 run in his next over.

Arif Sheikh also became Sher Malla's first victim after scoring 6 runs. Rohit then took a hat-trick wicket. Harmeet Singh was dismissed for 10 runs after hitting 1 six. He was the eighth player to be dismissed by the opener. He was dismissed in the 17th over and was dismissed for 33 runs after playing 51 balls and hitting 1 four.

Sher took 3 wickets to take his wicket tally to 17 in the tournament. He topped the list of highest wicket-takers along with Sandeep Lamichhane of Biratnagar Kings. Scott Cugglen was dismissed for 10 runs. He hit 1 six off 8 balls.
